Why I Love ACS

Although my scientific intrigue and experiences have covered a spectrum of therapeutic areas, I started my career in cancer research because of how it has impacted my family. Research is essential as we strive to end cancer as we know it, for everyone, and I am pleased to play an integral role in funding the best science!”

At ACS since 2023

As Senior Associate Scientist for Extramural Discovery Science (EDS), Sabrina Times, PhD, MPH, is part of the Clinical and Cancer Control Research Program under the Scientific Director Joanne Elena, PhD, MPH. Times supports the research program’s growth and development, peer review process, and grant management in the areas of cancer prevention, screening, and early detection, access to care, cancer treatment, palliative care, and survivorship.

Times works specifically with these peer review committees:

Research focus and accomplishments

Times' research experience has centered around population studies, with an emphasis on healthcare delivery, comparative effectiveness research, health outcomes studies, community-based participatory and practice-based research, and health equity research. Her favorite aspect of this work is the "bench-top to bedside" translation and optimizing patient care.

While serving as the American Cancer Society (ACS) Research Historian, Times wrote ACS Research Accomplishments Reports highlighting the role ACS funding played in major drug and target discoveries and implementation of health-related government policies.
