Giving Hope a Home

Cancer care in South Dakota is concentrated in Sioux Falls with patients often traveling great distances to receive treatment. In fact, 57% of patients coming to Sioux Falls for treatment travel at least 40 miles. For many, the trip is much longer. Cancer is a daunting disease and coping with it far from home adds more uncertainty, isolation and financial hardship to an already challenging journey.

For these reasons, and more, we seek to build a Hope Lodge in Sioux Falls. A Hope Lodge in Sioux Falls would join a network of more than 30 Hope Lodge communities around the country that offer lodging at no cost to cancer patients, so they can focus on getting well.

Upon completion, we anticipate serving 1,500 cancer patients each year who might otherwise have very few, if any, options for housing during their treatment in Sioux Falls.

Residency at a Hope Lodge facility is a courtesy extended at the sole discretion of American Cancer Society. All individuals who meet the Hope Lodge eligibility requirements will be welcomed regardless of race, creed, citizenship, physical disability, gender, color, ethnic heritage, veteran status, economic status, or sexual orientation. For admissions information, please select a Hope Lodge location.
