The new American Cancer Society cookbook, Quick & Healthy: 50 Simple, Delicious Recipes for Every Day, offers 50 main dishes that can be prepared in 30 minutes or less using easy-to-find ingredients. Recipes range from traditional entrees to main-course salads, soups, and stews and are designed to get a delicious, healthy meal on the table quickly and easily.

The recipes fall into 3 categories: poultry, seafood, and vegetarian – each illustrated by a full-color photo. For example, vegetarian entree Spinach-Ricotta Stuffed Portobello Caps uses 7 ingredients, minimal preparation, and has just 190 calories per serving.

“Scientific evidence proves that what we eat is tied to our risk for cancer and other chronic diseases,” said Colleen Doyle, MS, RD, managing director of nutrition and physical activity at the American Cancer Society. “Making nutritional food choices can help everyone live healthier and longer lives.”

Studies have shown that people who cook often at home eat better—less sugar, less fat, fewer refined carbohydrates, and less food in general—than people who cook less frequently or not at all. As part of the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives, we want to share what we know about nutrition to help you make better choices for your family and live a healthier and longer life.

“With a variety of enticing, flavorful main dish recipes, getting a healthy meal on the table quickly, any day of the week, is simple with these fun to prepare and shop for options,” said Doyle.

The book is priced at $16.95 and is available in print and eBook formats through the American Cancer Society bookstore.
